Shippensburg Soccer Club (SSC) is pleased to announce a program for youth soccer players who are looking to play soccer but have recently been made aware that AYSO is unable to offer programming this spring. SSC’s goal is to provide as many children as possible the opportunity to play soccer at the level that is most appropriate for them. Any child, for any reason, may sign up for the following programs this spring:
- U8 and younger players (birth years 2009 – 2012) may simply sign up for our existing intramural recreational program. The cost is $30. Registration closes March 1. We typically have 6-8 teams at both the U8 and U6 levels. All coaches have completed background checks and nearly all coaches have been licensed by U.S. Youth Soccer. Uniforms are provided as part of the cost.
- U9 and older players (birth years 2000 – 2008) may sign up for a series of clinics that SSC will be putting on. Unfortunately, the time to create new teams passed a month ago. We hope these clinics will allow players to stay active with soccer this spring and then join a team in the fall. The exact form of the clinics will depend on who signs up but the general idea will be to hold around 5-8 sessions during the spring that focus on development of basic skills and team tactics. Sessions will include individual skills, small group skills and tactics, and larger scrimmage type drills. All sessions will be led by our most experienced and knowledgeable coaches. All coaches have some combination of the following: extensive coaching experience, U.S. Youth Soccer licenses, high school or college playing experience. All coaches have background checks. The cost is $30 to cover our insurance fees and will include an SSC T-shirt. Registration is due by March 15. Please register using the U8 and Younger Intramural link to insure you only pay $30. Details about dates and times will follow once we have a sense of interest.
