Shippensburg Soccer Club teams have strong showing at Mem. Day tournament
Four teams from Shippensburg Soccer Club participated in the HMMS Memorial Day Shootout Soccer Tournament in Mechanicsburg thanks to the generous financial support of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168 and the Hub City Club. The two organizations paid the registration fees for the U11 and U12 girls teams and U10 and U12 boys teams. The teams finished between 4th and 7th place in their respective divisions. A total of 98 teams participated in the tournament.
The club's partnership with local organizations is an example of the tremendous growth Shippensburg Soccer Club has shown over the last two years. This growth has also been aided this season by the financial support of local businesses Cumberland Valley Rentals and Beistle. The club was recognized by Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association as one of the fastest growing clubs in the state. The club has created a 60-player intramural league for kids in second grade and younger and is poised to add five new older teams this fall to bring the total number of teams to 21.
